Surface Vehicles Trust Anchors and Authentication Information Report
J3323
Survey of existing best practices, standards, and challenges in automotive (and potentially other industries) for implementation of trust anchors and authentication infrastructures (e.g., PKI and related hardware trust anchors).
Rationale: The purpose of this information report is to summarize activities relevant to the overall transportation industry related to the establishment and management of digital trust anchors and authentication methods both within the in-vehicle network and any external network and application the vehicle interacts with where it is determined that trusted authentication needs to be established. In order to provide both necessary context and assist stakeholders in establishing an ongoing strategy for assuring, implementing and managing trusted authentication for the transportation industry, this information report will reference and describe work in multiple industries, both within and outside of the transportation sector, as it relates to trust anchors and authentication.
