This paper introduces a riding comfort quarter model featuring unsprung mass pitching, and explains its mechanisms for reducing disturbance applied from a road surface by the featured unsprung mass pitching on the principle of motion equation structures. Proper control of unsprung mass pitching makes it possible to reduce the gain of the sprung mass bouncing in a frequency range lower than the natural frequency of unsprung mass pitching. As the natural frequency of unsprung mass pitching is several times higher than that of sprung mass, this principle can be applied for improving the riding comfort in general run of vehicles.
