2020-09-15
2020-01-2142
The article is devoted to the study of the efficiency of the system that provides the production of hydrogen-containing gas using a thermoelectric generator and the addition of this gas to the air charge of the spark ignition engine to improve its indicated, effective and environmental performance. The thermoelectric generator is installed in the engine exhaust system and provides the conversion of the exhaust gas thermal energy into electrical energy to power the generator of the hydrogen-containing gas. The results of experimental studies of indicated, effective and environmental performance of the engine with the hydrogen-containing gas added in a wide range of operating modes are provided. Vehicle fuel economy and environmental performance with the developed system for adding the hydrogen-containing gas are forecasted using a mathematical model of the car motion in the driving cycle.

2021-01-1232
The article is devoted to investigation of fuel supply control efficiency in a spark ignition engine equipped with a catalytic converter during use of ethanol-containing fuels with different ethanol content. The study involves determining the efficiency of fuel supply controlling algorithm for the engine, which is powered by conventional petrol and non-adapted for using fuels with high ethanol content. Within the study the following fuels were used: petrol, ethanol and fuel blends with ethanol content varying from 15 to 90%. The efficiency of fuel supply control is evaluated in terms of providing the specified fuel-air mixture composition, fuel consumption and emissions in transient engine operation modes during vehicle motion in the driving cycle. The data obtained during the engine bench tests using petrol and ethanol-containing fuels were used for evaluation.

2020-01-2031
This article deals with the features of the thermal preparation system application on automobile engine, the heating of which to operating temperatures is carried out on petrol, and subsequent operation on liquefied petroleum gas. The main element of the heat treatment system is a phase-transfer heat accumulator, the task of which is to minimize the engine warm-up time and, therefore, reduce petrol consumption on warm-up modes. An information system has been developed (is being used) for remote monitoring and control of the thermal preparation processes of an engine with a thermal accumulator. The results of experimental studies on a passenger vehicle engine under various operating conditions have confirmed the effectiveness of using a phase-transfer heat accumulator to reduce the heating time of the coolant and reduce the consumption of petrol to warm up the engine.

The article examines the peculiarities of evaluating the vehicular engine harmful emissions in different heating modes when using thermal development system of the catalytic converter within phase-transitional thermal accumulators. The system under review uses thermal energy from different sources of the vehicular engine during its operation to accumulate it in thermal accumulators. The functional scheme of thermal development of the “vehicular engine - thermal accumulator - catalytic converter” system is shown. The functional scheme takes into account fuel consumption, mechanical energy and harmful emissions when operating the vehicular engine equipped with the exhaust gases cleaning system and the thermal development system with phase-transitional thermal accumulator.

2017-01-10
2017-26-0364
The article suggests the results of experimental and theoretical studies of the engine heating system with a phase-transitional thermal accumulator when the vehicle is in motion in a driving cycle. The aim of the study is to evaluate the efficiency of the vehicle heating system within thermal accumulator and catalytic converter under operating conditions. The peculiarity of the presented system is that it uses thermal energy of exhaust gases to accumulate energy during engine operation. The article describes the methodology to evaluate vehicle fuel consumption and emission in the driving cycle according to the UNECE Regulation № 83-05. The methodology takes into account the environmental parameters, road conditions, the design parameters of the vehicle, the modes of its motion, thermal state of the engine cooling system and the catalytic converter.
