2013-10-15
2013-32-9165
In this study, a technology for measuring dynamic deformation of motorcycle bodies in running is developed. The deformation has significant association with the maneuverability and stability of motorcycles. The developed system by combining the numerical simulation and the measurement of strains enable application of the measurement of dynamic deformation of motorcycles. This paper reports technical details of the system and measurement results of dynamic deformation of motorcycle bodies.

Long-Range Human Body Sensing Modules with Electric Field Sensor

The authors have developed a long range version human body sensing module. This module has a high measurement accuracy with a capacitance of less than two femto Farads and can detect more distant human bodies compared with conventional sensors. Furthermore, optimizing the electrode structure of this module, noise tolerance and directivity have been improved. We produced some prototypes of this sensor module and evaluated the sensitivity of them in a vehicle. The results show that the prototype can detect a hand at the distance of 300 mm from the sensor electrode.

Integrated Body Design System

Up to now, drawing of body lines has taken a long time and required skilled workers, and thus has been an obstacle to shortening the time needed to develop a new model. A new on-line system and data file, called the Integrated Body Design System, make body lines lofting easy and speedy, especially in outer panel designs. This on-line system has been developed by: 1. Effective combination of a large computer, a graphic display, a measuring machine, and a numerically controlled drafting machine. 2. Development of software for monitoring a large quantity of data using the technique of list processing.
