In order to predict the fatigue life of thrust rod heavy duty commercial vehicle balanced suspension, based on the continuum mechanics theory, the fatigue life prediction model of rubber with equivalent effect as damage parameter is established. Based on the equivalent stress and fatigue cumulative damage theory, the fatigue damage evolution equation of rubber material expressed by stress is derived by using the strain energy function. The general fatigue life model is established by using the maximum logarithmic principal strain as the damage parameter. The finite element model of the thrust rod is established, and the stress distribution of the spherical hinge rubber layer and the easy damage area are analyzed. Based on the equivalent stress calculation results and the axial tension stress and strain data of the rubber material, the accuracy of the results of the finite element calculation is verified.

2015-01-0635
For the roll vibration problem of a Truck, a 4-DOF roll vibration model of its front suspension system was built. According to dynamics theory, the complex modal vibration modes of the model were all obtained. At the same time, the frequency response functions of frame roll angle acceleration, the relative dynamic load of wheel and the suspension dynamic deflection were respectively presented. Then their characteristics were respectively researched. In the process of characteristic analysis, a new system parameter was proposed, which is the space ratio of the space between suspensions of left and right sides and the wheel track of the front axle (space ratio in short). At last, the influence of system parameters on the vibration transmission property was also reserached, which included the natural frequency of the frame, the damping ratio, the stiffness ratio, the mass ratio, the rotational inertia ratio and the space ratio.

2015-01-0016
This paper presents the study of chassis tuning of a commercial vehicle, which has a rear suspension with dual stage leaf spring assembly and a front suspension with double wishbone torsion bar. To balance the handling and ride performance of the vehicle, it is necessary to tune the key suspension parameters of the chassis including the dual stage stiffness of the leaf spring, the contact load of the leaf spring, the torsional rigidity of the torsion bar, the force curve of the front and rear dampers etc. The chassis tuning process of a physical commercial vehicle was first put forward. In the proposed flowchart, the kinematics and statics of front & rear suspensions were checked at the beginning of the tuning. Then the tire mechanical characteristics were tested by using a plate-type tire tester and the inertial parameters of the vehicle were indirectly measured. The K&C characteristics of front and rear suspensions were also tested and compared with the benchmark vehicle's.

2014-01-2867
To research the torsional vibration damping characteristic of magneto-rheological fluid dual mass flywheel (MRF-DMF) and the control system in power train, the multi-degree power train torsional vibration model which contains MRF-DMF and semi-active fuzzy control model are built, then the damping characteristic of MRF-DMF in several conditions are gained and compared with MRF-DMF when no control system. The result indicates: the damping characteristic of MRF-DMF effect on power train when using control is better than without control in idle, speed up, slow down, ignition and stalling, while the damping characteristic is less obvious in constant speed because the simulation condition and damping moment relatively stable.

2014-01-0008
Aiming at the abnormal vibration of driver seat of a passenger car in idle condition, vibration acceleration of engine, frame and seat rail was tested to identify vibration sources. Order tracking and spectrogram analysis indicated that the second order self-excitation of engine was the main cause. To solve the problem, semi-active controlled hydraulic engine mount with air spring of which characteristics could shift between a high dynamic stiffness and a low one was applied. Then the structure and principle of the mount with variable characteristics was introduced and control mode was analyzed. Dynamic characteristics were obtained by bench test. With sample mount applied, vibration of seat rail was tested again in multiple vehicle and engine working conditions. Dates showed that abnormal vibration in idle condition was extremely reduced and the mount could also meet the requirement of engine to dynamic stiffness in driving conditions.

Aiming at the difficulty of sovling the stiffness calculation of taper-leaf spring with variable stiffness, a combined method was proposed, which combine superposition method and finite difference method. Then the calculation results of different differential segments were compared with experimental results. The compared results show that the proposed method is effective and simple. So it has some practical significance in designing the taper-leaf spring. In addition, based on the stiffness test of the taper-leaf spring, the proper adjustments to the correction factor of the single parabolic leaf spring stiffness formula was recommended(ξ =0.92-0.96).

In order to reasonably match the variable stiffness suspension and optimize the ride comfort and stability of a light bus, a virtual prototype model of the light bus was established in Adams-Car. Before the optimization, the tyre mechanical characteristics were tested by using a plate-type tyre tester, then the magic formula model of the tyre (Pac2002) was obtained by means of the global parameter identification method. The vertical vibration of the virtual model was simulated with the simulated B-class road profile, and its handling stability performance was also studied by simulation of the pylon course slalom test and steady static circular test. After that, an optimal method of the variable stiffness suspension was put forward. In the proposed method, the two-level stiffness (k1, k2) and the damping of the rear suspension and the torsional stiffness of the pre and post stabilizer bars were taken as the optimal variables.

Magneto-rhelological(MR) dampers are devices that use rheological fluids to modify the mechanical properties of fluid absorber. The mechanical simplicity, high dynamic range, large force capacity, lower power requirements, robustness and safe manner of operation have made MR dampers attractive devices for semi-active real-time control in civil, aerospace and automotive applications. Landing gear is one of the most essential components of the aircraft, which plays an extreme important role in preventing the airframe from vibration and excessive impact forces, improving passenger comfortable characteristics and increasing aircraft flight safety. In this paper, the semi-active system used in landing gear damping controller design, simulation, and the vibration test-bed are discussed and researched. The MR dampers employed in landing gear system were designed, manufactured and characterized as available semi-active actuators.

The use of the hydraulic mount and sub-frame (engine cradle) for passenger car is increasingly becoming common in the automobile industry because they can provide excellent frequency and amplitude response characteristics compared to the conventional elastic rubber type engine mount. The 14-degree-of-freedom dynamic model of engine and sub-frame mount system is developed in this paper. The method to solve second-order-differential equation which include variable stiffness and damping is given. A lot of calculation and measurement of vibration response are carried out. It is shown that hydraulic mount and sub-frame mount can effectively isolated the vibration transmitted from engine to body.
