It is widely recognised that medium and heavy duty diesel engines are increasingly utilising electronic control to optimise injection timing, pressures and governing to ensure that maximum performance capability is realised and that adherence to latest and future legal emissions are met. The addition of electronic diesel control on a vehicle also provides the manufacturer with the opportunity to increase the user and operational features list by software development of existing controls. This increase in features has been well received by the end user and there is now an expectance that top range vehicles will include cruise control, speed limiting, traction control and other features as standard when these vehicles are equipped with electronically controlled engines.
