This Information Report provides uniform procedures for adapting chassis dynamometer tests to evaluate energy consumption and emissions in vehicles equipped with Automated Driving Systems (ADS). The procedures apply to internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEVs), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs), and fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) designed for public road use. The method includes an on-road driving component to quantify ADS energy demands, replicating them in the chassis dynamometer test. Any discrepancies between on-road ADS power loads and those measured during testing can be addressed through post-processing calculations or by applying practical power loads during testing. These procedures can be applied to any chosen drive cycle or test sequence.
