Guidelines for Manufacturers Regarding the Production System for Parts Made of Process Intensive Materials (PIM)

2023-12-22
WIP
ARP7523
This document provides guidelines that ultimately support the certification of parts made via Process-intensive Materials (PIMs). Typical PIMs include metal additive manufacturing, carbon fiber composites, and high temperature ceramics. In particular, a framework for production quality control is provided with measurable, quantitative values. This is developed in light of "proportional rigor" with respect to part critical. This framework is applicable to both civil and military aircraft.

ARP7524
This document provides guidelines to support the certification of parts made via Process-intensive Materials (PIMs). Typical PIMs include metal additive manufacturing, carbon fiber composites, and high temperature ceramics. This involves outlining the typical workstep for part certification, highlighting the steps unique to PIMs, and then defining methods to comply with regulations. This schema is created for civil aviation, yet is also applicable to military aircraft.
