Steel Strip, 0.68 - 0.80C (SAE 1074)

2018-09-20
WIP
AMS5120N
This specification covers a carbon steel in the form of strip. This product has been used typically for heat treated springs, spring pins, shims, spacers, and other applications where spring temper is required, but usage is not limited to such applications.
Standard

Steel Bars, Forgings and Tubing, 0.50Cr - 1.8Ni - 0.25Mo (0.17 - 0.23C) (SAE 4320H)

2018-09-20
WIP
AMS6299G
This specification covers an aircraft-quality, low-alloy steel in the form of bars, forgings, mechanical tubing, and forging stock. These products have been used typically for parts to be carburized requiring high minimum core hardness with wide range in sections 0.375 inch (9.5 mm) and under in thickness, but usage is not limited to such applications. The core may or may not be machinable after hardening.
Standard

Steel, Welding Wire, 0.78Cr - 1.8Ni - 0.35Mo - 0.20V (0.33 - 0.38C) (4335 Mod), Vacuum Melted, Environment Controlled Packaging

2018-08-30
WIP
AMS5029E
This specification covers a low-alloy steel in the form of welding wire. This wire has been used typically as filler metal for gas-tungsten-arc welding of basis metal of similar composition and quality requiring heat treatment response in the weld joint approximating strength of the basis metal, but usage is not limited to such applications.
Standard

Steel, Welding Wire, 1.05Cr - 0.55Ni - 1.0Mo - 0.07V (0.34 - 0.40C) (D6AC), Vacuum Melted, Environment-Controlled Packaging

2018-08-30
WIP
AMS5028F
This specification covers a low-alloy steel in the form of welding wire. This wire has been used typically as filler metal for gas-tungsten-arc and gas-metal-arc welding of heat-treatable steels of similar composition where the weld area is required to have strength comparable to that of the parent metal after heat treating, but usage is not limited to such applications.
Standard

Steel Cleanliness, Premium Aircraft-Quality Magnetic Particle Inspection Procedure

2018-08-30
WIP
AMS2300M
This specification covers steel cleanliness requirements in inch/pound units for premium aircraft-quality ferromagnetic steels, including hardenable, corrosion-resistant steels, by magnetic particle inspection methods. This specification contains sampling, sample preparation, inspection procedures and cleanliness rating criteria (See 8.2).

The metric version, MAM2300, has been cancelled. The SI units have been included in this specification, but the inch/pound units are primary (See 8.8).
