Dendrite Arm Spacing of Structural Aircraft Quality D357 Aluminum Allow Castings, Determination and Acceptance of

2023-03-20
WIP
ARP1947D
This document covers the recommended practice for determining the acceptability of the dendrite arm spacing (DAS) of D357-T6 aluminum alloy castings required to have tensile strength not lower than 50000 psi (345 MPa).To apply this method, at least two coupons used for DAS measurement and two tensile specimens shall be attached in locations defined by the cognizant engineering organization.Areas of the casting which require DAS control must be accessible for surface DAS measurements, or if internal locations are to be tested, such locations shall be defined by the cognizant engineering organization.

WIP
AMS4461C
1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of sheet and plate 0.008 to 1.750 inch (0.203 to 44.450 mm) thick, supplied in the annealed (O) condition (see 8.4). When specified, product shall be supplied in the “as fabricated” (F) temper. 1.2 Application These products have been used typically for formed structural parts which will be subsequently heat treated, but usage is not limited to such applications. 1.2.1 Certain design and processing procedures may cause these products to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking after heat treatment; ARP823 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.

Aluminum Alloy, Discontinuously Reinforced Hot Isostatically Pressed Shapes 6061B/SiC/40p (3 μm) (T1P)

2023-03-08
CURRENT
AMS4368A
This specification covers discontinuously reinforced aluminum alloy (DRA) metal matrix composites (MMC) made by mechanical alloying of 6061B aluminum powder and SiC particulate, which is then consolidated by Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) into shapes between 12 to 100 square inches (0.008 to 0.065 m2), inclusive, cross-section. Tensile property response to heat treatment has been demonstrated on samples of 1 square inch (645 mm2) maximum cross section (see 8.9).
