In-line, Elbow, and Tee Flanged Connectors for use with SAE J518-1/ISO6162-1 Components
J518/4
This document standardizes the design of connector blocks used for joining SAE J518-1/ISO 6162-1 (Code 61) flange heads with other SAE J518-1/ISO 6162-1 (Code 61) flange heads with straight, elbow, and tee geometries. The blocks specified in this document are designed to provide for very compact installations. As a result, the tap depths specified in this document do not conform to those specified in SAE J518-1/ISO 6162-1 to allow for a minimal bend radius in the elbow and tee configurations. This document specifies both inch and metric configurations
Rationale: Connector block in-line, elbows and tees have been in the marketplace for many years mainly as specialty blocks. They permit one of the most compact methods of making an elbow or tee. Because they were specialty items, full tap depths were not used. Tap depths are sufficient to use the specified split flange mounting kits WITH WASHERS, but may not accommodate other situations. Split flanges are also allowed to overhang the block on the side opposite of the mounting surfaces. Block material sizes are set to accommodate metric and inch steel sizes. In-line connector blocks are used to connect two SAE J518-1 Flange head/clamp connectors together. Although flange clamps can overhang from the sides, the in-line connectors provide full minimum tap depth.
