This SAE Standard provides a method for determining the Effective Projected Luminous Lens Area (EPLLA) of a lamp function using design analysis. This standard was created to clarify and address how to determine EPLLA with traditional and new technologies.
Rationale: An updated is required to address which elements can be included in the Effective Projected Luminous Lens Area calculation. Technological advances have enabled solutions which can comply with the requirements in this document while potentially not meeting the intent of the requirements. This update will address these solutions.
