Training Program Guidelines for Deicing/Anti-Icing of Aircraft on Ground
ARP5149BDA
This document establishes the minimum criteria for effective training of air carrier and contractor personnel to deice/anti-ice aircraft to ensure the safe operation of aircraft during ground icing conditions. Appendix D specifies guidelines for particular airplane models.
Rationale:
The purpose for this revision is to include additional recommendations and refine existing recommendations from experiences gained and advancing deicing technologies implemented since the previous publication.
Revision B of this document encompasses updated information in conjunction with other applicable SAE documents and editorial changes. Recommendations for trainer qualification and the requirement for train-the-trainer in order to ensure training is performed by competent and qualified individuals. Provision is recommended for the use of Computer Based Training/e-Learning/Distant Learning and Computer Based Deicing Simulators for deicing/anti-icing training. Language proficiency recommendations have been recommended for ensuring qualification and competency for personnel communicating deicing/anti-icing verbiage. Appendix D has been revised to incorporate new aircraft types, and revise anti-icing permissible fluid application areas. Within Appendix D, existing diagrams were also carefully reviewed to ensure accuracy, and any necessary modifications were made. Appendix E contains standards for qualifying Computer Based Deicing Simulators, and capabilities for training elements in which they may be utilized as part of. Appendix F contains the ICAO Language Proficiency Rating Scale.
