This AIR describes the current scientific and engineering principles of gas turbine lubricant performance testing per AS5780 and identifies gaps in our understanding of the technology to help the continuous improvement of this specification.
Rationale: The AIR is intended to summarize and capture motivations for test procedures that are embodied in AS5780. Revision is needed to update changes to test methods that have occurred in the last five years and to capture new current E-34 thinking on future directions of specific test methods.
