Sealing Systems for Composite Intake Manifolds 980576

The flange interfaces of composite intake manifolds can be successfully sealed using homogeneous press-in-place gaskets, but it is essential for a smooth program launch that a team approach is used. Press-in-place gaskets provide:
  • Accommodation for the variation inherent in large composite moldings
  • Effective sealing under a broad range of conditions
  • An economical sealing system
  • The ability for the OEM to receive a manifold preassembled with gaskets
Figure 1 shows a typical arrangement of such a gasket.
