Die Casted Magnesium Front Seat Frame: An Application for Small and Medium Size Cars 970323

This presentation describes a practical application of seat frame noise and weight reduction and cost containment obtained by using the combination of magnesium and die casting technology. First it shows the selection process for technology and material to be used; second, it reports the results in terms of weight savings achieved and technical solutions adopted for two different uses for European segment B (small size) and segment C/D (medium size) car-seats. The most recent developments and the evaluations of the program are illustrated.
