Commercial Vehicle Applications Using Linear Emitting Fiber Optics 970257
The use of fiber optics for lighting purposes is not new to the transportation and in particular to the automotive industry. However most, if not all, of the applications have been limited to point source lighting or configurations for panel display. This paper defines new applications for fiber optics using linear emitting Large Core Plastic Optical Fiber (LCPOF). The paper also identifies the method of manufacture and the relevant advantages for this novel optical fiber assisting the end user to understand its applications and therefore possibly creating additional uses.
