Cabin Air Filters: Performances and Requirements 960941

The paper will discuss the requirements cabin filters must meet with regard to certain health aspects, such as the removal of particles and allergens and their ability to reduce the mutagenicity of airborne contaminants. The results in this paper are based on our own studies and research work conducted together with the University of Stockholm.
A comparison between the results of laboratory tests on cabin filters and results in real operating conditions will also be described. Existing test methods do not allow a proper evaluation of cabin filter performance in real life and a new test procedure - discharging - will be proposed.
The paper also presents a summary of the filter material that meets these requirements and other demands.
