Powered Recreational Craft Sound Level Test Report - Lake X Florida 960778
This paper summarizes a test series which was performed, in March 1994, to measure the sound levels produced by powered recreational craft. The purpose of the test was to establish the current technology level and the limits of future technological improvements of outboard powered craft and personal watercraft (PWC). In addition, tests were performed to evaluate the use of “standard craft” for outboard motor testing, and the concept of a “duty cycle” based sound level measurement procedure. Based on the results recommendations were made for appropriate test procedures and sound level limits for European Community legislation.
