Field Measurements of Seated Vibrations 960477

The purpose of this project is to develop a whole-body vibration recording and analysis sytem that is robust, but inexpensive and easy to operate in the field. A prototype system based on a miniaturized industrial PC with integrated circuit accelerometers as the transducers has been built and tested. Vibration data are acquired and converted to an equivalent dosage for comparison with the ISO 2631/1 standard and by an equivalent time domain method. Results of testing with cars, utility vehicles and electric wheelchairs are reported.
