Analysis of Wheel Lateral Runout in Dynamic Balancing 951050

The effects of wheel lateral runout on dynamic balance are measured for a range of passenger car and light truck wheel and tire assemblies. Differences in the measured imbalance between the assemblies are shown to correlate with the transverse moment of inertia of the assembly.
A theoretical solution to the motion of this rotating system was derived using Euler's Equations of Motion. The resulting formula is shown to correlate well with the experimental results and provides a useful tool for analysis of wheel imbalance forces.
