Capabilities of Moire Interferometry for Automotive Body Panel Inspection 950920

Class A automotive body panel inspection has for years been a subjective endeavor, limited by inconsistencies of the human eye and the inspector's memory of what has been observed in the past. A quantitative, non-contact inspection system based on Moire Interferometry has been developed. The successful application of this technique will be the next step in class A automotive body panel inspection wherein shape differences between a reference panel and production panels can be determined objectively in less than 10 minutes.
