Fluid Flow in an Automotive Torque Converter: Comparison of Numerical Results with Measurements 950673

A three dimensional simulation of the fluid flow in an automotive torque converter was performed applying the steady interaction technique implemented in the fluid dynamics program STAR-CD.
The computed performance characteristics were found to compare very well with measured characteristic curves. In addition, the computed velocity field at the inlet to the reactor is compared with available measurements to show the good correspondence in the trends.
