System Design - Key to Affordable Engine Fuel Systems 942128

The development of large turbofans continues to dramatically increase the level of Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system complexity, while at the same time demanding lower costs.
Future complex systems will look to distributed architectures to overcome the difficulties imposed by highly centralized computing power. The key to achieving the lowest cost distributed application is to take a system design approach, trading-off attributes of hydromechanical and electronic elements. This is implemented by a multidisciplinary team applying generic design principles and new technologies to allow performance levels to be attained.
