Use Of Ethanol Vapor In Spark Ignition Engines 931631

An Otto cycle engine was fed with pre-vaporized alcohol. A heat exchanger was used to vaporize liquid alcohol which employed exhaust gases as a heat source. Data from engine powered by liquid alcohol were confronted to others using vaporized alcohol. The engine fed with vaporized alcohol presented greater thermal efficiency, softer operation and lower fuel consumption than that fed with liquid alcohol.
