Holographic Optical Element for Automotive CD Pick-up 930958

The first Pick-Up for automotive CD applications utilizing a 3-Beam Holographic Optical Element has been developed and is now in mass production.
Existing conventional Pick-Up designs for use in automotive applications are insufficient for achieving reliability in the operating environmental conditions required by automobile manufacturers. One of the characteristics of conventional designs which causes problems is the use of adhesives to fix many of the optical components after they have been precisely adjusted.
With this new design, the optical system has been simplified using a 3-Beam Holographic Optical Element to achieve both reduced size and weight. This simplified optical system proves that it is possible to enhance performance of the Pick-Up under severe environmental conditions, and also proves the effectiveness of the use of the 3-Beam Holographic Optical Element in the Pick-Up for automotive CD players. A photograph of the CD Pick-Up utilizing the Holographic Optical Element is shown in Figure 1.
