Some Examples of Numerical Simulation in Vehicle Safety Development 921074

The ever-decreasing development time available for a new car means that the crash behaviour of the structure must be investigated in the concept phase. Today, vehicle design can be assisted by using component and full car computer simulation to optimise crash behaviour.
The following contribution will discuss modelling technique and will show simulation examples including 50 % front offset crash, side Impact, and car-to-car.
A new approach will be indicated, with the presentation of an integrated Finite Element dummy.
