Application of High Efficiency Oil Filtration to Heavy Duty Diesel Bus Engines 920927
The purpose of this paper is to report on the Southern California Rapid Transit District's (SCRTD) evaluation and implementation of engine lube oil High Efficiency Filtration (HEF) on diesel bus engines.
In June of 1987, the SCRTD began to investigate the possible benefits of HEF and devised a test plan to record the effects of using HEF in SCRTD service. Testing concluded that HEF was beneficial and by 1988, SCRTD began requesting HEF as standard equipment on new buses. The SCRTD continues to specify HEF on new buses and has retro-fitted many older buses with HEF.
