Computerized Graphics Light Distribution Fuzzy Evaluation System for Automobile Headlighting Using Vehicle Simulation 920816

We have completed a system that can evaluate light distribution in real time as you view the screen, using computerized vehicle simulation graphic analysis of the light distribution pattern of headlamp used in automobiles.
The system is able to generate a composite evaluation using the practical application of multi-fuzzy inference forms that include peripheral field of vision, calculating the unevenness of the light distribution on the road surface as well as the luminous flux (both emitted and reflected back) that illuminates the road, sidewalk and wall, at the same time evaluating the quantified data of disability glare, discomfort glare and contrast in relation to the visibility of the target (pedestrian, road delineation lines, fallen objects on the road) and adding glare from an oncoming vehicle and background brightness (of the sky, road surface, wall). Also, for conformity between the way one can see on-screen and the way one can see outdoors, the system revises the on-screen light distribution using measured data gathered outdoors.
The information concerning road lines combines a quadratic curve in the vertical dimension and a simple radius in the horizontal dimension with a straight center line. In this system, the foundation of the evaluation of luminous flux and the variation in the unevenness of light distribution is the result of the analysis of the measured values of approximately 50 kinds of lamps. Therefore, the system is able to adapt for the relationship between the quality (good or bad) of actual vehicle light distribution and the size of lamps using H4 bulbs. Based on the research outlined above, this system can verify the light distribution of headlamps used in automobiles, evaluate the safety in improvements by steps, and can become a useful method in the development of the ideal light distribution.
