Evaluation of Adaptability of Construction of Automotive Vehicles Towards Operations in Northern Conditions as Per Test Results 920026

Construction of vehicles meant for operations in extreme North regions must satisfy the possibility of their effective operations in different combinations of climatic influence and road factors typical for the said region.

Taking into account the wide spectrum of change of these influence on vehicle in zones cold climates, in the paper there discussed the different aspects of operation conditions and requirements toward construction of vehicles directed to the satisfying of possibilities of their reliable and safe operations in these conditions.

In condition of extreme North and North-East of USSR, where the conditions of roads, to a considerable extent, depend on the influence of climatic and atmospheric phenomena, it is necessary to consider the influence of natural-climatic factors in the system “Driver - vehicle - road - environment”. In the paper there produced brief analysis of interelemental relations, arised in the system in Northern conditions, forecasting of their consequences and evaluations. In the light of interelemental relations under consideration there reflected most important questions, related with reliability of functioning of system “Driver - vehicle - road - environment”, and method of tests of vehicles in natural road-climatic conditions of extreme cold Northern zones - Magadan region and Yakutsk ASSR.

On the basis of studying the operational experience and test of vehicle techniques, with the use of expertise of specialists, in the paper there suggested the method of tests developed in the Northern test station of Central Automobile Proving Ground on evaluation of suitability of vehicles to Northern conditions. It is suggested to evaluate the level of suitability of vehicles to the Northern conditions as per mathematical model representing the sum of different factors of operational properties, bearing in mind of their importance.

Thus, the carried out tests allowed to formulate the basic positions of technical demands towards automobiles and methods of carrying out natural condition tests in the coldest zones of USSR.
