NOK Soft-Metal 911283

As asbestos is restricted, the SOFT METAL gaskets attract attention as a substitutive material for asbestos joint seats. The SOFT METAL is a steel plate coated with rubber. However, it is not simply used as a substitutive material, but used for engines to enhance reliability. First, this paper explains the structure and types of materials. Next, the characteristic of each bead is described to reccommend what type of gasket specifications should be provided depending on the position of use, because when the material is made into a gasket, beading is executed to increase the surface pressure partially. The explanation above is an example of application to the position other than the cylinder head gasket which is relatively low in vibration and pressure. For this, this paper describes the material for the cylinder head gasket. Lastly, this paper introduces the trend of the SOFT METAL gaskets in the future.
