The Interaction of Turn, Hazard and Stop Signals-An Examination of the SAE Standards 890688

Hazard warning signals may now be used on moving vehicles whenever they are a traffic hazard, but the MVSS-108 fails to address the interaction of hazard signals and turn and stop signals on all vehicles.
The current regulations allow a variety of interactions, hence, producing a lack of uniformity in these aspects of vehicle signaling.
The interaction of the stop, turn and hazard signals needs to be evaluated and the best compromise reached in the interest of safety.
