Surface improvement for Advanced Ceramic/Metal Joining 890290

Investigation of joining of advanced ceramics to metals, such as turbocharger rotor/shaft attachment, shows the need for modification of ceramics to effect better adhesion for brazable metal-on-ceramic coatings and other adhesion materials. Data and other information is presented for turbocharger and advanced gas turbine ceramic rotor/metal shaft attachment. Other data on surface modification for improved wear, increases of surface and other advantages are also presented.
