The Data Link - Key To Worldwide Heavy-Duty Truck Electronic Systems 861971

An overview of the SAE/ATA J1708 Data Link Standard is presented. This data link is in service on field test trucks for communication between the engine (equipped with electronic controls) and an all-electronic instrument panel. The link is used for both information and control purposes. The importance of the data link to the implementation of electronic systems on heavy-duty trucks is explored.
