An Overview of the MARAD Ship's Machinery Research and Development Program 861208
SINCE 1970 THE MARITIME ADMINISTRATION (MARAD), in cooperation with various segments of the maritime industry (ship operators, shipbuilders, equipment manufacturers, etc.), has undertaken major research and development programs directed at improving the productivity and competitiveness of the U.S. maritime industries. This paper provides an overview of one such program, the Ship's Machinery and Outfitting program, and its evolution over the past 15 years.
