Modal Analysis of a Tire and Wheel and Its Application for Vehicle Ride Evaluation 860826
Modal analysis of an inflated, preloaded tire mounted on a wheel is performed using the finite element method. Two models of the wheel, both rigid and flexible, are employed in the analysis.
It is shown that the flexibility of the wheel can be important in the evaluation of vehicle vibrations under 100 hertz.
