Rotary and Linear DC Proportional Solenoids 860759

Analog positioning of control elements and other mechanical mechanisms in commercial and industrial applications can be directly performed by means of rotary and linear proportional solenoids. This paper presents the fundamental contrasts between snap-acting and proportional solenoids and demonstrates the utility of a rotary design in a diesel engine emissions control function. Also included is a brief mention of permanent magnet proportional solenoids and an overview of the electronics typically used to control proportional solenoids.
