Chip-on-Glass LCD for Automotive Application 860348

Recently much attention has been focused on the electrical interconnection between Liquid Crystal Displays and Printed Circuit Boards. Chip-on-Glass technology is now available to dramatically reduce the number of interconnections. Hitachi has developed a Chip-on-Glass LCD for automotive application by applying flip chip bonding and thin film technologies resulting in a high reliability and high productivity display.
Key technologies of the Chip-on-Glass display are discussed which includes many new processes. The results of reliability testing are reviewed and they reveal that the Chip-on-Glass LCD can be applied to the automotive market.
