Development of a Square Injection Rate with a Pump-Line-Nozzle System 851581
A development program was undertaken to achieve higher average injection pressures without increasing peak pressures using a pump-line-nozzle system. Simulation results led to the use of falling rate cams in combination with smaller plunger diameters. The degree of falling rate which can be utilized is limited by cam velocity at spill which controls the rate of pressure drop at spill. A satisfactory combination was established which did increase average pressure at peak torque by 12% without increasing rated speed peak pressure.
