Oil-Immersed Static Coefficient of Friction — Definition and Methods of Determination 841065

Dynamic end-point static and breakaway static coefficients of friction are defined. An automatic method of measuring breakaway static friction is described and results of empirical studies to determine effects of oil, surface pressure, and grooving patterns, on breakaway static friction values are presented.
