The Development of Elastomers for Engine Mounting Devices 800274
This paper provides a general review of the history of engine mounting devices. Early parts are illustrated, and a review of the evolution of testing from simple material requirements to the sophisticated tests of actual parts conducted today is presented. It is shown that this test development has permitted the use of computer simulations to improve the comfort of the vehicle. The need to develop materials with stable characteristics over a large range of operating conditions is identified for future efforts.
