New Developments in Bearing Materials 690112

The increasing use of tin/aluminum alloy as a material for bearings in automotive applications is the subject of this paper. Various metal combinations are discussed and their advantages or disadvantages are compared. Compatibility of metal components in alloys is a matter of extreme importance in their manufacturing processes and in their performance acceptability. These problems are related to the economic and durability aspects of the several alloys and also to the increasing use of plastics in less demanding applications.
