Designing Atmospheric Contaminants out of the Space Capsule 630341

A method for controlling potentially toxic material may provide the basis of atmospheric contaminants in space vehicle design. It presents techniques that the Navy has been using successfully in connection with the fleet ballistic missile program. The emphasis is placed on detecting hazardous material in the design phase and the substitution of acceptable alternates. Previous Navy FBM submarine operational experience is cited. It is concluded that many of the techniques developed for the FBM program are applicable to the space program.
