INFLUENCE OF IMPELLER AND DIFFUSER CHARACTERISTICS AND MATCHING ON RADIAL COMPRESSOR PERFORMANCE 610159

The performance of a radial compressor is a function of the impeller and diffuser characteristics, and their relative matching and interaction. Impeller and diffuser characteristics for a hypothetical radial compressor are synthesized from equivalent linear two-dimensional cascade data, and from the momentum equation. These characteristics are combined to derive overall compressor performance. General trends in relative matching between the impeller and radial diffuser of the compressor are studied. Finally, the use of these techniques in actual compressor development is described.
