Venturi Tube Application to Improve the Vacuum Assistance for Brake Systems 2013-36-0019

The new requirements adopted to reduce fuel consumption and the emission pollutants control (EURO 5/L5) in synergy with the dual fuel engines massive popularization caused a significant reduction in the vacuum generation available by combustion engines. As a consequence this severely penalizes the braking performance in some critical use situations. The reduction in the vacuum generation significantly reduces the booster saturation knee point, increasing the effort on the brake pedal in the use. One possible solution and cost-effective to improves the booster vacuum level is the Venturi tube application. This paper attempts to present the results achieved in vehicle before and after a Venturi tube application and the possible effects on such application.
