Bushing Migration in Mechanical Assemblies 2011-36-0154

1
Even though electronic devices became a reality in the mechanical industry, mechanical issues involving assembly through mechanical fit, more precisely bushing migration in primary structures and mechanisms still need some attention. Historically, this subject was demonstrated to affect all aircraft manufacturers during the aircraft operation. This paper demonstrates a concept to be adopted in preliminary design for general mechanical application and presents considerations about interference fit evaluation, materials compatibility, surface treatment and the study for the final solution considering dimensioning aspects.
