Energy Management as Configurable System Software Function 2009-01-0516

Many car manufacturers identify Energy Management for the vehicle electrical system as an option in order to optimize energy control and energy efficiency for the whole vehicle. Single characteristic software solutions for Energy Management for individual, vehicle or platform specific integration are state of the art. On the other hand high flexibility and extension capabilities for the configuration of an Energy Management instead simplify the integration in many platforms and vehicles. By deployment in many platforms consequently development time and costs per vehicle are reduced. At the same time software quality is increased by higher amount of reused software components. The paper will show an optimal functional architecture for the system software function Energy Manager and cover methods, which enable integration in different platforms. Among these methods configuration of software components plays an important role.
