The proposal method to evaluate Kt for interference fit assembly 2008-36-0108

The interference fit is used to join parts, basically between circular geometry in the appropriate housing. The cumulative local stress is coming from press fit process causing the pre-tension on the surface.
Almost all machine components and structural members contain some form of geometrical or any abrupt change in cross section or micro structural discontinuities. The maximum local stress normally occurs at these discontinuities. The nominal stress is calculated for a particular loading and net cross section assuming a stress distribution across the section that would be obtained for a uniform geometry.
The proposal of this paper is obtain analytically stress concentration factor from the elasticity theory, computationally from the finite element method, and experimentally using methods such strain gages
