Virtual Reality Approach to Design a Long Haul Truck Cabin Ergonomics and Better Driver-Vehicle Interactions 2007-01-4283

Designers of products are faced with variety of challenges, some of them being mutually exclusive. This paper discusses the application of Virtual Reality (VR) models that can be the utilized early in product design, development and manufacturing phase, and predicting effects on the product usage and its ergonomics. Human interaction with machine involves immediate environment and general environment the paper studies the benefits of involving virtual environment and facilitating the man machine interactions. Simulated version of the actual facility, complete with the actions, sights, and sounds and different operating conditions of the product and its environment in real time, will generate a robust feed back mechanism, enhancing quality of human machine interactions.
