Study on the Simulation of Structural Dynamic Characteristics of Vehicle's Powertrain System 2007-01-0896

A vehicle's powertrain is considered, FEA and MSS methods are used to predict the system's structural characteristics in its early stage of design. First, the multibody system dynamics model of crank mechanism is established, the time response of crank mechanism's output torque can be obtained which is the dynamic excitation to gearbox. Second, modal analyses of the powertrain based on finite element technique show the natural frequencies and the associated mode shapes. Taking the results of the first step as the dynamic excitation, the forced vibrations for flywheel shell are examined. The simulation results show that the strength of the powertrain satisfies its design requirements, and the integrative methods present in this paper are also proved to be practical and effective.
